SDG Move – SDSN Thailand Participates in the 6th Research University Network (RUN) Academic Conference

January 23, 2024 – Thammasat University, through its Research and Innovation Division, hosted the 6th Research University Network (RUN) Annual Academic Conference, themed “Enhancing Research Impact for Sustainability Transformation,” on January 22-23, 2024 at the Grand Palazzo Hotel, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi Province.

During the opening ceremony, Professor Dr. Siriwan Suebnukarn, Thammasat University’s Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, and Associate Professor Dr. Sutkhet Nakasathien, President of the Research University Network, expressed their intention to foster cooperation between the RUN network and the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Thailand (SDSN Thailand). The conference was honored to have Professor John Thwaites, Monash University and Chairman of the SDSN Association, and Professor Dr. Sanit Aksornkaew, President of the National Economic and Social Development Board and SDSN Thailand Leadership Council, deliver special keynote speeches.

On this occasion, Assistant Professor Chol Bunnag, Director of the Centre for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move), and Ms. Nantinee Malanon, Deputy Director represented SDG Move as the National Host of SDSN Thailand. They participated in the academic conference and led the process of discussing ways for the Research University Network to collaborate, as well as participated in the Sustainability Research Dialogue workshop with faculty and researchers from 8 network universities across the country.

The conference aimed to:

  • Promote collaboration between the RUN network and SDSN Thailand to drive research for sustainable development.
  • Share knowledge and research on sustainability issues among RUN member universities.
  • Develop a joint research agenda on sustainability priorities for Thailand.
  • Strengthen the capacity of RUN member universities to conduct sustainability research.

The conference is a significant step forward in the collaboration between the RUN network and SDSN Thailand. It will help to drive research for sustainable development in Thailand and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
