SDG Move Organizes a Leadership Development Activity for Students on Sustainability “Youth Leaders for Localizing SDGs”

April 23, 2023 – The Center for SDG Research and Support (SDG Move) organized a training camp to develop the potential of the student leader network on sustainability “Youth Leaders for Localizing SDGs” from April 22-23, 2023 at Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

The student leader network building activity is part of the “Project to Support and Promote the Potential of Higher Education Institutions to Drive Sustainable Development Goals”. The aim is to enable student leaders to drive sustainability at the local level. These student leaders will then be able to expand and continue working with other student groups in their own universities. Representatives from 9 universities participated, namely:

  • Suranaree University of Technology
  • Prince of Songkla University
  • Surat Thani Rajabhat University
  • Huachiew Chalermprakiat University
  • Naresuan University
  • Songkhla Rajabhat University
  • Buriram Rajabhat University
  • Walailak Rajabhat University
  • Silpakorn University

The activities of the student leader network development training camp were divided into 2 parts:

Online Training – To prepare the participating student leaders from each university to have the opportunity to learn content and basic tools from expert speakers in various fields both domestically and internationally. They also had the opportunity to get to know each other from different universities.

Onsite Training – Organize a training camp for student leaders from each university to participate in the camp at Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

For the Onsite Training activity, the following qualified speakers were invited:

  • Dr. Boripat Siriaroonrat, from the eec Thailand Institute
  • Mr. Suttichok Chitsrisombat, from the Young Sustainable Development Association of Thailand (YSDA)
  • Ms. Nitchakan Daramatat, from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Thailand

They exchanged views on the “Importance and Role of Youth in Driving Sustainable Development Goals”. The participants then jointly developed a project using the SDGs as a framework for discussion, in order to develop it into a real project.
